I was born into the horse industry and began learning everything I could at
a pretty large and well known Arabian Farm in Branford, CT by the name of
Hickory Hill Arabians. Owned by the Giordano family. I grew up in that barn
working horses and this is also were I began training them as well as
showing. With the help of the Giordano's, My mother Patricia Pleines,
Patricia and Dawn Sullivan, and Jeff Doyle (currently of Saddlebrook Farm
in Durham, CT.
From there I moved my horses to a private farm that we later named Red
Hill Farm where I began to really get into the training and showing of my
Arabians as well as POA ponies. Here the pony that started it all was my
little POA gelding SP's Honey Bear (aka Sunny). Who won just about
everything in the state of CT at the 4-H horse shows as well as the CT
Pony of America's Club. By the age of 10 I decided to sell Sunny to a 7 year
old little girl who would later enjoy him until she grew up. I then purchased
a leopard POA from Jon and Debbie Smith of Killingworth, CT by the name
of SA Small Wonder. Wonder was my first real training project and he
came to be very well known in the show rings throughout CT. I trained him
to do it all. He would pull blue ribbons in the Hunter ring, then change over
to Western Pleasure and pull blues all day long. From there we would
enter the Gymkhana arena as well and again all blues! Then at the age of
16 I decided to sell Wonder to a family with 2 small children who he could
teach how to ride him.
In 1996 I decided to stray from the POA world and go back to the Arabians
with the purchase of LLS Flame N Fury my Half Arabian gelding. At the
time of purchase he was 6 years old and not saddle broke. I worked with
him and got him completely trained for the Hunter Pleasure ring. We
started showing him on the CHSA circuit in the Half Arabian classes and
he took all the blues! From there I decided that he was upheaded and
spirited enough to enter the Saddleseat Ring. Throughout countless
seasons of showing against Saddlebreds and Morgans he continually
pulled first place ribbons and Championships every time. So I decided to
give him a year off and ventured off with my Aunt Deborah Williams, to
show her Buckskin Quarter Horse A Double Dip Of Zip that was trained by
Bud Bishop of High Acres Farm in Woodstock. It was a great opportunity to
work with a great Western Pleasure and Quarter Horse trainer.
I have also worked with countless top trainers throughout CT and New
England, Whitney Legacy of Whitney Ridge, Durham CT, Melissa
Lambrecht of Wynter Thyme Manor Bethany, CT (formally of Bittersweet
Farm), Jan Lukens of Lukens Stables, Ravina NY, and was even flown out
to Liberty TX to train 60 Egyptian Arabians for Jack and Diane Wenzell of
DJW Arabians. As well as countless others.
I then decided to go back to the Arabian show ring in 2006 training and
showing with a friend in the Arabian World. With a wonderful client Randi
Karson of High Horse Arabians, whom let me show both of her mares at
the time in Halter and Hunter Pleasure Jr. Horse. I gained enough points
with her two horses to get them qualified for the US Nationals in Louisville,
KY. What an experience! During this period I had the opportunity to work
with other well known trainers on the Arabian Circuit as well, Troy White,
Josh Quintes, Jody LaSalle, and countless others I would like to thank for
their time spent with me.
Now I have decided to take it down a notch to give a more personalized
approach to training, instruction and showing. I am only taking on a small
number of clients and horses so I can really focus on helping my clients
achieve their goals.
Although I have taken my business down a notch I am still taking on new
opportunities. For this past two years I have been working on the Morgan Show
Circuit with long time friends Melissa and Tom Lambrecht of Wynter
Thyme Manor, Who I'd like to thank for all the opportunities they have given
to me. It has been an exciting and very busy year on the road with them
and I am looking forward to attending the Morgan Grand National and
World Championships with them in October.
